It looks like he had a great time, so what ever works best for you.
I love to challenge my self with the next elaborate birthday cake.
The party is always at a place that sets up and runs the party. I just get to do the cake and food. Which get displayed in my vintage Pyrex.

What a cutie - Happy Birthday Pirate!! Elaborate parties do not make me happy either - my motto is "plain and simple"!

Happy Birthday to your little pirate, so cute! I'm turning 50 this Friday and I'm not doing the "Big" party. Just a few close friends and lots of good food and wine. FYI if you have the Disney channel..

Watch Jake in his most heroic moment ever! “Jake Saves Bucky” premieres Wednesday Night, September 19th in a FAMILY NIGHT SPECIAL EVENT on Disney Channel! Jake and the Neverland Pirates.

Jenny

Happy birthday 5! Year old.
You know, I recently retired as big party giver. We'll see if it sticks.

Meghan

Happy Birthday to a SWEET boy!!

Happy Birthday, Cap'n!
We've done parties for the last few birthdays (4,5,6) but I'm going to try to skip #7. She's an only kid and has a summer birthday when it seems so much harder to get everyone's schedules to coincide. I'm hoping to vacation somewhere great instead as compensation (her dad's birthday is two weeks later -- group trip present!)
As for Playmobil, I know what you mean. There's always one moment where I have to stop and regroup -- and usually take apart something too. Now, my husband and I pre-open all Playmobil presents, get rid of all the extra bags and plastic hangers, and preassemble. Then, we tape it all back up and it's ready to be wrapped. My kid never notices but we do -- a whole lot less pressure!

Happy Birthday to the sweet little pirate! Love his outfit. We are not huge fans of the big party, ours get smaller every year.
