You all know how I talk about my SIL Jenny and her beautiful photos right? Well she is doing some great posts right now about really simple and managable (as in very little tech talk) ways to make your photos better. Yesterday she did some tips about focusing. This morning I went out to catch the snow and sun and experimenting with my manual focus. I even read some part of the instruction manual! It was fun and different for me. I like this result too.
Travis built this fence this past summer. He dug each hole and put up the rails himself. It wasn't about rushing and getting it all done at once (that's my specialty). He did about one fence post a week. It was relaxing and the kids all helped. I love it so much not only for how beautiful it is but that it was his project and he is really proud of it. Now that our kids are school age, Valentine day has become all about them and their parties and their valentines. I like that this picture is about my very own grown-up valentine.

Snow! It's been so hot here lately but it's finally acting like winter. We might even get snow flurries over the weekend. We'll see.
Love the fence! Very cool. I sometimes manually choose my focus point but I also often use focus/recompose. Have you tried that? It can be hit or miss but I find it easier when trying to photograph a moving target: syd. lol Looking forward to seeing more of your photos!

Beautiful photo! I love your story about building the fence too. It reminds me of my "a little at a time" decluttering. It run in the family...

Lovely picture and special meaning. The shadow of the trees are nice because the sun is so welcome in winter. Your SIL is very talented and I book marked her blog because I will be getting a nice camera soon, and she is a warehouse of information and good tips on capturing the special moments with good results. Thanks!
