This boy is always fighting to get in on the action. When you have 3 kids together, one is being left out and 95% of the time it's him. I say, "Come on. just let him play." and they "Mom, this is a girl game and he doesn't know how to play!" WEll sewing is no longer a girl game here at our house. The boy finally made his way in on all the action!
Another pattern by dmkeasywear called the reversible tunic. This is day 4 of KCWC by Elsie Marley. I made this in size 4 and it fits Anne really well. Elsie is going to be mad that I haven't made her anything yet but seriously, that girl is so picky that anything I make for her is worn once and then never seen again.
Here it is on the hanger...
and in reverse on the hanger...
We went to Lowes today and Anne got a kid size rake to help me in the yard. So, in 84 degree weather, here she is happily modeling while doing child labor in the yard...
and in reverse...
I think the light side is not the best for her skin color but it matched the orange so there!
About the sewing~ The pattern was really nice. Lots of pictures and not too many words which i really liked. I was amazed and so please that the arms all came together so easily! The fabrics are vintage from thrift shops and estate sales. I can't even remember now since I have had them awhile!
I have been wanting to make something vintage looking since I scanned this picture my mom gave me awhile back~
That's me in the snoopy jumper. My sister and brother and best childhood friend Christine are with me.
and they know how to use them!! Leg and arm warmers for day 2of KCWC by Elsie Marley. SUPER easy. I bought these women's knee socks for $1.50 each at a creepy surplus store. I am such a tight wad that i actually thought that was kinda expensive BUT i knew they would make for some cuties. There are lots of easy tutorials out there to make these leg warmers, such as this. It took about 15 minutes. The rest of my sewing time was spent looking and choosing fabrics for tomorrow.
They are posing as monkeys and that is why we have the face.
Cal turned 3 on Friday. He wanted a great big humongous tractor and we did our duty to get him a tractor. I did make Space Boy because I had to do something handmade to give myself a good conscience. He is thoroughly unimpressed by my handmade creations. I knew this but then comforted myself by thinking Space Boy would look cute on his book shelf. I guess he was kind of a gift for me? Space Boy is really fun to make until you get to the part of attaching those wool felt sleeves. It's worth though b/c they really make the doll better.
He did consent to hauling spaceboy around in the bucket of his tractor which was darn cute.
and then i did a last minute tractor cake ...
I made a paper stencil and sprinkled green sparkles on the cake. the tires and road are chocolate cookie crumbs. I really like how simple and clean it looks. AND it was super easy! Gigi got him this awesome firetruck which we all loved (yes I love it too!). The 3 year was very happy.
My husband said he had something awesome to show me on the computer after he came home yesterday. Surely most of you have seen google earth and google maps. Here is what he discovered when looking up our house...
HIs mowing lines show up on satellite! Cool indeed. I admit his excitement was more than mine but i still think it's cool! He has a used golf course mower and this is what he was able to create this year. Groovy. We tease him a lot about his mowing but this is pretty impressive!
I looked at this picture and hated our ugly roof and saw the need for the driveway being repaved. Yuck. But then i saw that you can see my vegetable gardens and decided to take some pics of that success instead of worrying about the boring roof and driveway!
Cute and bright zinnia border...
Our own home grown pumpkin already decorated by some overly eager kids.
This tomato is called 4th of July and boasts that tomatoes will be ripe by 4th of july. They were ready but now that the meatier ones are ripe, these are passed over. I love the overabundance of late summer!
New sprouts of arugula! Yum Yum Yum. This is first time I have replanted seeds in the fall.
And finally Japanese anemone starting to bloom. Some gardeners think this is a "garden thug" but i am in need of some thugs in this sorry border i have going!
That bird pillow is going up in the shop today so I'll be blogging about that soon too!
